The crew at Best Brains got a second season rolling but with a couple majore changes. First off Dr. Earnhardt (Josh Weinstein) disappeared and in his place we got T.V.’s Frank (Frank Conniff). With his distinctive hair and willingness to do anything for a laugh, Frank became a fan favorite and stayed with the show up till Season six.
On the Satellite, Tom Servo got a new voice and performer in the form of Kevin Murphy. Kevin took Servo in a new direction, making him a bit more pompous, and more willing to sing at the drop of a hat.
The riffing speed picks up a bit in this season and by the end, the series has pretty much reached a nice cruising speed that would last until Season five. Still, this season isn’t one of the stronger ones. When it hits the high points (Godzilla vs. Megalon) it’s classic stuff. But there are still some slow episodes to be found here. This is also the season where the biker trilogy appeared and created a couple fan favorite episodes.
